Jorah was rushed to VREC after a walk around the block went awry. While on a walk, Jorah and his family were attacked by a dog who was off-leash. At only five months old during the encounter, Jorah was small and sustained an ulna/radius fracture from the other dog’s bite.
Due to financial constraints, there were limited options for Jorah’s recovery. Fortunately, he was nominated to receive Angel Fund assistance which allowed our surgery department to perform an internal fix using bone plates and screws. After a successful surgery, Jorah received a fiberglass splint to ensure the bones set and mended properly. Because he was a growing puppy, he visited frequently for splint changes to ensure the casts were the proper size. After a month of re-checks, one final round of radiographs was taken to ensure the bones had healed properly.
