K-9 Police and Rescue
Veterinary Referral and Emergency Center is proud to support the service dogs that protect our communities.
Every year Police Officers such as Officer Ember of the Scranton Police Department risk their own well being to help keep us safe. Highly trained K-9 Officers and their handlers build a bond like any other police partners.
K-9 Officers are used to identify drugs, bomb components, and arson accelerants.
They also can track anyone from lost children to dangerous fugitives.
This work comes with innate dangers, and that’s where VREC is proud to serve. We provide emergency and advanced care to all of the regional police stations and rescue squads and their K-9 teams. All care is provided free of charge as our way of giving back to our local communities.
When not “on duty”, the K-9 Officers and their partners visit schools and other community education events. It’s another lovable way these dogs protect us, by teaching others to stay safe.
