The Veterinary Referral and Emergency Center is proud to offer distinctive and comprehensive veterinary services. Our animal hospital is the only one of it’s kind in Lackawanna County, one of the largest and is the most inclusive veterinary facilities in northeast Pennsylvania. Since opening our doors in May 2010, our staff has expanded to more than sixty-two veterinary trained staff members in order to best meet the needs of our patients, clients and referring veterinarians.

History of VREC
In December 2009, after working as a referral surgeon in the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton area, and with overwhelming encouragement and support from clients, referring veterinarians, and the community, Dr. Nichole Danova and a small group of staff founded the Veterinary Surgical Center. The VSC functioned as a surgical referral service, and quickly grew. Plans to move into a larger, full service hospital were launched almost immediately, and VREC’s current location was established and construction began in February of 2010. VREC, a 24-hour, advanced care referral and emergency center was opened in South Abington Twp., Pennsylvania in May, 2010.
