Although Jessica was born in Tampa, Florida, the love of the mountains and four distinct seasons brought her to Northeast Pennsylvania. Jessica has a Baccalaureate of Science – Biology, and a Baccalaureate of Science – Secondary Science Education from Florida State University. She is currently obtaining a degree in Veterinary Technology in order to become a Certified Veterinary Technician.
Jessica has always had a love of both animals and medicine, so Veterinary Medicine is her perfect career. She specifically enjoys emergency medicine because “it is always changing and keeps you on your toes.” Her favorite aspects of emergency and critical care medicine is the reward of being able to see how treatments can help, all the while building a special human-animal bond with the patient. “I also enjoy surgery and getting to see complicated procedures that are life saving.” Her compassion for animals and drive to help them keep her enthusiastically coming to work every day.
Jessica has 6 dogs, 3 cats and several fish. When she is not working at VREC, she enjoys hiking, kayaking, and gardening. She works part time as an EMT on an ambulance saving human lives, and is the president of the Wayne/Pike County Animal Response Team.
