February 26, 2019 – VREC has partnered with local landmark Cooper’s Seafood House in Scranton to host another “Cask for a Cause” event to benefit the Angel Fund. The event will take place on Friday, April 26, 2019 from 5-8pm at the restaurant located at 701 North Washington Avenue, Scranton. This will be the third year that VREC has participated in this event.
The event highlights a donated small cask (“firkin”) of limited-edition beer from a local brewery that is tapped at the start of the event, only available the night of the event – or until the keg runs dry! All proceeds from the beer’s sale goes directly to the Angel Fund. There will also be a sizable amount of gift baskets and certificates to win in the raffle and a 50/50 drawing. Attendees do not need to be present to win. There are no tickets or admission fees required to attend this event.
The Angel Fund was established in 2010 and provides assistance in situations where financial burdens prevent pet owners from obtaining veterinary care. If a pet and owner qualify for the Angel Fund, our doctors donate 100% of their abilities and the facility donates any/all hospitalization and procedural fees. The only charges to the Angel Fund are costs associated with supplies and medications to aid in the recovery of the pet. Since inception, the Fund has helped provide essential (and oftentimes life-saving) care for over 150 animals. The Fund is 100% donations-based and fundraiser events are a huge help to ensure the program stays open.
While the restaurant child-friendly, only those 21 and over with valid ID can purchase beer. Some raffle items may include alcoholic beverages and will require the winner to show a valid ID.
