Dr. Nichole Danova, founder of VREC, was working as a referral surgeon in the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre metro area saw the need for a special surgical referral service. After receiving overwhelming encouragement from both clients and referring veterinarians alike, she founded the Veterinary Surgical Center (VSC) in 2009. VSC quickly became a successful referral service which grew into plans for a larger, full-service veterinary hospital. Veterinary Referral & Emergency Center (VREC) was established not long after and opened its doors in Clarks Summit, PA in May 2010.
VREC is one of the largest and most inclusive veterinary facilities in northeast Pennsylvania and the only one of its kind in Lackawanna County. Since opening in 2010, the facility has seen over 55,000 unique patients and the demand for services offered has grown exponentially. As caseloads grew, the staff grew as well. Today VREC employs over 50 staff members, all of whom are trained to best meet the needs of our patients, clients, and referring veterinarians.
