January 22, 2019 – Dr. Nichole Danova, President and Director of Surgery at Veterinary Referral and Emergency Center (VREC), recently announced that the hospital has treated its 50,000th patient. This monumental figure is for uniquely registered patients and does not count those who have been seen in more than one department or on more than one occasion.
The continuing and unwavering support from the community’s “pet parents” has been instrumental in allowing VREC to treat so many pets. “It’s overwhelming to see how many wonderful pet parents we have in the area and we are so grateful to be here in their time of need”, says Rose Ghiotto, Hospital Administrator. “We are all pet owners here – and we understand how precious they are.”
For almost nine years, the clinicians, technicians, and support staff at VREC have been providing 24/7 emergency and referral services to pet owners in Northeastern PA and surrounding areas. The facility opened its doors to the public in May 2010 and has grown to offer the region with services including distinctive internal medicine, cardiology, surgery, and critical care departments. In 2013 the facility added its own MRI suite, the only 24/7 unit in the region. VREC employs over 50 clinicians, technicians, support staff, and client service representatives and are looking to expand their offerings in the near future.
“We know nobody wants to use our services, but we’re here if you need us” says Danova. “Hopefully we make a concerning situation just a little less scary.”
