For the third year in a row, VREC joined forces with Cooper’s Seafood House in Scranton for their “Cask for a Cause” fundraiser program to raise money for the Angel Fund. This year’s event took place on Friday, April 26th from 5-8pm.
Despite the cold, rainy weather, raffle ticket sales were up: over 2,300 tickets were sold in a little over three hours. In all, there were 46 raffle items for patrons to enter to win and ranged from jewelry and art to hotel stays, pet products, gift certificates, and more.
Beer sales were also up: patrons enjoyed the delicious donation of a Raspberry Lemonade Shandy, courtesy of Susquehanna Brewing Company. All proceeds from the tapped firkin’s sales went directly to the Angel Fund.
Overall, the night grossed close to $2,400 – all of which will go towards providing care to future Angel Fund recipients. The Fund has helped provide care to nearly 150 pets since being established at VREC in 2010. If a pet and their family qualify for the Angel Fund, VREC waives all fees for hospitalization and procedure fees, the doctors donate their time and services, and the Fund covers supplies and medicines to ensure a successful recovery.
To make a donation to the Angel Fund, please visit the “Angel Fund” portion of our website, call 570-587-7777, or stop by the facility at 318 Northern Boulevard in Clarks Summit to learn more.
