Boo presented to VREC not being able to urinate. His owners reported that he was straining for the last two days with no results. Radiographs determined he had a blockage in his bladder – a urinary obstruction most likely caused by bladder stones. Blockages rarely, if ever, go away on their own. Without prompt treatment, the prognosis is grave.
Emergency clinician Dr. Ilardi performed a urethral obstruction procedure. The procedure ensured all obstructions were completely flushed out of the bladder. Boo recovered quickly from his procedure and was sent home to be with his family.
