Eddie’s parents rushed their pup to VREC after he was hit by a car. After he was stable, staff took radiographs to identify the extent of damage. Miraculously, he had no broken bones! The wounds he suffered, however, were full of debris. Debridement surgery was recommended.
Debridement is the medical removal of dead, damaged, or infected tissue to improve the healing potential of the remaining healthy tissue. After qualifying for the Angel Fund, Eddie was transferred to our surgery department. He was anesthetized and his wounds were cleaned. Eddie was bandaged with special materials to promote healing while keeping the area clean and dry.
Eddie was an excellent patient and recovered uneventfully before being discharged to a very relieved family!
