This is Girlfriend. She is a young pit bull terrier who was in a roll over car accident and sustained a dislocated right hip.
Girlfriend qualified for our Angel Fund and a right femoral head and neck ostectomy (FHO) and ovariohysterectomy (spay) was performed. The FHO surgery involves removing the ball and neck of the femur (thigh) bone to allow a pseudoarthrosis (false joint) to form. This will provide Girlfriend with a functional and comfortable leg.
She has several months of intensive rehabilitation therapy ahead of her, but we are very optimistic Girlfriend will make a full recovery!
