March 26, 2019 – WNEP-TV recently visited VREC to interview staff about the ongoing pet oxygen mask distribution program. Back in September 2017, VREC distributed over 80 pet oxygen mask kits to area first responders to help them provide oxygen to pets suffering from issues such as smoke inhalation.
The story, which aired during the evening news on March 26, featured Olyphant Hose Co. #2 who recently finished training on using the kits and plans on keeping a fully-stocked kit on every vehicle. The Hose Co.’s Chief, Justin Stalica, said, “We do go after your pets, too. We all are pet lovers, and we don’t want them to perish any more than we do human life.”
Any area first responders who are interested in receiving pet oxygen masks for their departments should call the hospital at 570-587-7777.
