IMPORTANT: CHANGE IN EMERGENCY HOURS
For Immediate Release – The closures or limitations of primary care veterinary clinics during the COVID-19 crisis have led to nationwide emergency services facing an unprecedented increased caseload. The cascade of patients from primary veterinarians to emergency services has stretched resources and capabilities while increasing staff burnout.
Due to our dedication to the community and to our family of dedicated doctors, technicians, and client service representatives, VREC will be temporarily adjusting hours of operation for the Emergency Service. Effective Monday, December 21, 2020, VREC’s temporary Emergency hours are limited to full-service hours on weekends only.
Monday – Thursday: Closed
Friday, Saturday & Sunday: Open 24 hours
While our Emergency Service hours are temporarily limited, the hospital remains open 24 hours a day for calls or concerns. Referral departments (Cardiology, Surgery, and Internal Medicine) will operate without disruption. No scheduled consultations, appointments, or procedures will be affected. Pets requiring hospitalization will continue to be monitored 24/7 by staff, regardless of department. Pet owners who feel their pet is experiencing an emergency Monday through Thursday must seek medical care at another facility, whether a primary care veterinarian or otherwise. If you have a patient that you believe needs specific Internal Medicine or Surgery services on an emergency basis, please contact VREC.
Our amended Emergency Service schedule is temporary and is being evaluated closely. We are optimistic that normal operations may resume soon. We will announce the hours of operation for the Emergency Service as soon as possible. VREC remains committed to providing superior care to our community, patients, clients and regional veterinarians. We look forward to return to 24/7 emergency intake as soon as possible.
