Mikaela L., CVT is a technician in our surgery department. She holds a Certified Veterinary Technician degree from Johnson College. Born and raised in Olyphant, Pa., she has found a home here at VREC. Mikaela first realized she wanted to work within the Veterinary field when she took in her first stray cat. The cat happened to also be pregnant at the time. Mikaela wanted to give a safe place for her to have her babies and realized how much she loved helping animals. This experience helped her decision to switch majors from Occupational Therapy to Veterinary Technology. She was attracted to VREC with the possibilities of exploring new areas of veterinary medicine. She brings a hardworking, enthusiastic approach learning new things. Most importantly, what it means to be a team player. Alike many of our staff, Mikaela is a pet parent of two dogs: Ellie, and Aggie. She also has 15 cats: Maia, Luna, Toothless, Laverne, Shirley, Calpurnia, Snape, Fred, Millie, Yoda, Sir Lancelot, Cali, HoneyOneSock, Horace, and Katniss Everkitty. In her free time Mikaela enjoys traveling with her husband and son, attending numerous comic cons and book signings. She has had the fortune of meeting about 100 celebrities since 2018. When not traveling, she enjoys partaking in large count jigsaw puzzles and playing video games.
