Adrienne Breaux, DVM is an Emergency Clinician and leads the Exotic Medicine department at VREC. She holds a Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from North Carolina State University and a Bachelors in Biology with Chemistry minor from University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill.
Breaux joined the VREC family in 2021 and has experience in general practice, emergency veterinary medicine, and wildlife/zoo settings. Her passion lies in exotic medicine and she offers her reptile and amphibian expertise to pet parents across the region. Working in a shelter was the catalyst for Breaux’s interest in veterinary medicine, and she considers shelter care a professional interest. Other professional interests include feline and wildlife medicine.
Bureaux is an active member of the American Veterinary Medicine Association (AVMA,) Association of Reptile and Amphibian Vets (ARAV,) American Association of Feline Practitioners (AAFP,) and is Fear Free Certified®. When not attending to pets at VREC, Dr. Breaux enjoys hiking, board games, and teaching. She is also a pet mom to cat Gidget and two rescued Eastern Box turtles. On spring nights you can find her out looking for local amphibians and reptiles!
